Two Brooklyn police officers suspended for injuring cyclist

Posted on June 17th, 2010 No Comments

We want everyone to know that any injuries caused by other people’s wrongful action are eligible for compensation. If you fell victim of a driver’s negligence in NY and seek legal advice, contact a Brooklyn car accident attorney to be sure that right decisions will be taken on your specific case.

Two Brooklyn police officers are suspended without pay after injuring a bicyclist while they were driving on the wrong side of a road on Monday.  The two officers are also in trouble for leaving the injured cyclist without filling out a report.  At least part of the incident was captured on a surveillance camera.  Authorities said that the officers should have remained at the scene after colliding with the cyclist.  They also should have informed a supervisor and filed a report of the accident.  Instead, the officers only helped the cyclist to the sidewalk and provided him with tissues to wipe the blood from his cuts and abrasions before driving off.

The two officers said that they believed the man fell off his bike when the police car’s sirens startled him.  However, authorities said that the cyclist was struck by the patrol car.  The two police officers will have to stand a departmental trial.
