Four brands of milk recalled in NY

Posted on September 9th, 2010 No Comments

NY residents are subject to countless health risks every day: car accidents, medical malpractice, construction accidents or food poisoning are just a few to name. If you think your health has been put in jeopardy due to other person’s reckless deed, you may need to consult an experienced personal injury lawyer in Brooklyn.

Be aware that Midlands Farms milk production plant in Menands, New York announced the recall of four brands of milk produced at their facility.  The recall comes after the New York State Department of Agriculture found that defective equipment at the plant failed to properly pasteurize their product.

The recalled milk has brand names Midland Farms, Jersey Dairy Farms, Trade Fair Premium, and Corrado’s Market, and has a sell-by date of September 24th.  The brands are sold in New York and four other states.

Milk that is not pasteurized properly can become contaminated with bacteria like salmonella or listeria.

NY legislators discuss bill requiring farmers to vaccinate hens. Personal injury lawyers in Brooklyn watch over consumers’ interests

Posted on September 1st, 2010 No Comments

A serious food poisoning can entail significant medical expenses, lost wages and moral suffering. Recall of the tainted products is not a rare phenomenon in NY. If you’ve experienced any of the diseases linked to food poisoning in Brooklyn, our personal injury attorneys will be committed to your case. Read further to learn some facts on the recent food recall in New York.

This past Sunday in front of a Lower East side supermarket, two New York state legislators announced their plans to create a bill that would require all farmers in New York to vaccinate hens against salmonella bacteria.  Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh, alongside State Senator Daniel Squadron, stated, “The massive outbreaks of food-borne illness in recent months leave no doubt that our food safety system is failing us, threatening everyone’s well-being and sometimes costing people’s lives”.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued several new regulations since the massive egg recall of half a billion eggs, however they have yet to require vaccinations.  ”If the FDA is unwilling to take the lead, we should start here in New York,” said Squadron.  Squadron and Kavanagh argue that considering the 5 billion eggs sold in the state of New York alone each year, the cost of vaccinations will only be about a penny per dozen.

CPSC recalls LG portable dehumidifiers

Posted on August 12th, 2010 No Comments

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of LG Electronics’ 30 pint portable dehumidifiers earlier this week for fire and burn hazards.  The recall includes almost 10,000 of the defective product.

The recall comes after consumers have complained that the product’s power connector for the compressor had short circuited causing safety risks.  The defective dehumidifiers were sold in stores from between January 2007 and June 2008 in Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Heat Controller, Inc. stores across the country for between 140 and 150 dollars.

The CPSC and LG urge owners of the portable dehumidifier to stop using it immediately and to read over their recall notice.  Furthermore, if you wish to arrange for a free repair owners can contact the GE service center.

Lacrosse gloves recalled for excessive lead containing paint

Posted on July 28th, 2010 No Comments

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Warrior Sports Inc. announced the recall of Brine VIP lacrosse gloves yesterday.  The CPSC found the gloves to have paint with excessive levels of lead in the screen printing ink used for the silver triad logo on the back of the gloves, violating federal lead paint regulations.

Lead is a neurotoxin that can lead to long-lasting brain or nervous system damage in children and fetuses.

The recall includes youth and adult Brine VIP lacrosse gloves in black and white and sizes 10, 12, and 13 inches.  Approximately 7,000 pairs of the gloves will be removed from shelves in the United States.
