Man pleads not guilty to DUI in pedestrian accident

Posted on May 14th, 2010 No Comments

A 21-year-old Bronx man appeared in court this week to plead not guilty to driving drunk in connection with a hit-and-run last Friday.

Police report the accident occurred on Route 120 following a tune-up soccer game between Ecuador and Mexico in the new Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey.

As 77,000 fans left the stadium, a group of nine, including a 20-month-old child, crossed Route 120. The 21-year-old driver struck them on the road and then fled the scene.

Police caught up to him in Wallington and charged him with assault by auto, leaving the scene of a dangerous accident, and driving under the influence.

Luckily none of the pedestrians were seriously injured.
