A Brooklyn motorcyclist lost control of his bike Tuesday right before a brown Ford Explorer sports utility vehicle rounded a corner and struck him.  When the driver lost control of his silver Honda CBR, the SUV swerved to avoid hitting the man, but it was too late.  A Good Samaritan doctor who saw the motorcycle accident rushed over immediately to try to tend to the man and perform CPR.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. in Boerum Hill on the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Bond Street.  The driver of the SUV was not charged with anything.  As soon as paramedics arrived, the motorcycle driver was rushed to Long Island College Hospital where he died a short time later.

Yesterday, there was a 10-car chain-reaction accident just east of the George Washington Bridge in Manhattan.  Seven cars and three trucks were involved in the accident, and four people suffered injuries.  No specifics regarding the injured people’s identities or conditions have been released.

Manhattan police officials had to close down traffic to a single lane for several hours, delaying traffic coming from New Jersey into Manhattan.  The vehicles were cleared not long after the accident, however authorities had to clean up a fuel spill that resulted from the accident.  Delays were as along as two hours for drivers trying to enter the city.

Yesterday, ten people were injured in a two-vehicle car accident in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn law enforcement officials reported that the accident occurred at the intersection of Bushwick Avenue and Conway Street just before 10 AM on Monday.  The accident involved a van and a car.

Seven people in the accident were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, one was hospitalized for trauma, and two refused medical treatment.

Authorities are investigating the accident to determine what caused the van and car to collide.

A five-car pile-up accident occurred late yesterday afternoon on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.  Reports stated that the accident happened on the lower level of the bridge in the eastbound lanes headed toward Brooklyn.

The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is a double decker bridge connecting Staten Island and Brooklyn at the narrows.

The accident briefly slowed traffic on the bridge from the time the accident occurred at around 5 PM to 5:45 PM.  Fortunately, only minor injuries were reported in the accident and no people were sent to hospitals.

The auto club, AAA, recently released the results of a survey they completed on driving with dogs in the car.  According to the survey, 60 percent of dog owners have driven with their dog in the car.  Also, only 17 percent of those who have driven with their dog in the car say they have used animal restraints.  Furthermore, 21 percent of dog owners admitted to driving with their dog in their lap.

59 percent of participants admitted to performing distracting behavior with their dog in the car, including, petting, giving the dog food or water, and playing with their dog.  AAA warns that driving with a dog in the car can be as distracting and dangerous as texting while driving.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says that if you need to drive with your dog in the car, always keep the dog in the back seat and use animal restraints.  Animal safety restraints are available in most pet stores.  Unrestrained pets in the front seat or in a driver’s lap not only endangers the driver, the animal, and passengers, but other drivers on the road.
